All the cloud platforms use your data to train LLMs. Local-first tools are the way to fight back.

Security, defense, finance, healthcare, government... the reason high-security orgs use Obsidian is for the privacy and ownership of their data.

Now every team can be sovereign.
Obsidian is now free for work.

Starting today, the Obsidian Commercial license is optional. Anyone can use Obsidian for work, for free. Explore the organizations that support Obsidian on our site.

Not gonna lie: watching the baltics synchronize with UTCE is kinda cool. Having the mains frequency open on my second monitor for the last few hours. Kinda rare to see systems do that kind of thing. (Good reminder that modern infrastructure is amazing)

mitmproxy 11.1 is out! 🥳

We now support *Local Capture Mode* on Windows, macOS, and - new - Linux! This allows users to intercept local applications even if they don't have proxy settings.

More details are at mitmproxy.org/posts/local-.... Super proud of this team effort. 😃

Obsidian has completed a second independent audit by the security firm Cure53.

The report finds that incremental updates since Obsidian 1.5.3 maintained the highest degree of attention to security, and that no new vulnerabilities were introduced.

With just about every piece of technology up until now, when it's not working correctly that is apparent to the user in some way.

The reason LLMs and today's versions of "AI" scare me is that users think they are working correctly even when they're putting out nonsense.

Microsoft just released a tool that lets you convert Office files to Markdown. Never thought I'd see the day.

Google also added Markdown export to Google Docs a few months ago.

Alright, let’s make a backup of Bluesky. All of it.

To make it interesting, I don’t want to use the official Relay. Instead, let’s make a custom archival node.

I want to try running it on this, a 32-bit Arm board with recycled magnetic drives. (It’s called a Helios4 and it’s blue!)
