Live near Manchester (UK), work on citizen-led/co-op approaches to the energy transition as a way to tackle climate change. Interested in politics, urban design, anarchism, co-ops and football (not necessarily in that order).
Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough (1999), there's some great architecture in Boro, but this nineties development is utterly cursed.

Do not feed or touch the horses. Horses are not your friend. Horses will lie and betray. Do not trust horses. ⚠️

Two great events in Glossop with the George Street Community Bookshop this week. On Thurs, a walk and reading with @thelrm.bsky.social about her new book, the Feminist Art of Walking, then on Sat, @bobfischer.bsky.social with his Haunted Generation show reminiscing about weird 70s childhoods.

The Tories treated football fans in the 80s like animals, with contempt and cages. They tried to introduce ID cards for us and the brutal policing culture they created led directly to deaths at Hillsborough. But yeah, of course, it was all good natured fun, like at the rugger. Absolute hypocrisy!

And whilst people might criticise this as playing to the already converted, research shows Reform are actually vulnerable to messaging like this.

Rather than, you know, saying they have a point and you actually like flags too. 🙄

AI town? I am personally disappointed that the govt hasn't committed to tried and tested technology and built Web3/NFT town. With a marketplace where one can freely buy and sell Bored Apes and coffee shops where all transactions are inspectable on the blockchain.

The Alienation Effect is such an amazing book, a reminder of the past wave of migrant xenophobia we experienced before WWII but also that those migrants who came and stayed made a lasting, revolutionary and positive impact on our culture and society.
