I think it was the case that the marines went 'Now we can see it's possible, we absolutely need this capability and there's only one way to get it without waiting 20 or so years, so you better buy some'.

They're the reason for the VTOL F-35 version the UK has foolishly bought for carriers.

Harriers for the marines, for a start.

It's for our own good.

You make a small profit each time too.

After the Brexit vote, I was hoping the Netherlands would restart the Anglo-Dutch war and invade to save us.

Windows & Mac native versions, plus 95+% of it works under Wine on Linux too.

(Currently, a couple of effects and saving video doesn't. Still totally worth paying for.)

Presumably the idea is that people will decide to commit crimes in Scotland and Northern Ireland instead of England and Wales...

The lesson I took was 'if you're going to do fraud, don't get divorced'.
November 25, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Can't wait!

The Devon farmer bit reminds me of one who was doing a fraud - pretending to be exporting lots of sheep & claiming back tax on this. He divorced his wife. She didn't understand the real accounts he had to do as part of that, so took them to a friend. Who happened to be a tax inspector.

1. A bunch of Samurai films
2. A bunch of WW2 films, especially The Dambusters and a couple of 'aviation in the Pacific theatre' ones
3. Your #2

USB C can detect the orientation it's been plugged in because they are different - there is something that displays something like 'wrong way round' one way and 'not that way' the other.

once it comes to a bayonet fight, chances of someone getting seriously hurt increase & it could well be you!

Hence the habit of one side of other avoiding that by retiring / running away once things got really close.

The threat of it reduces the number of times it happened?

There are numerous examples of other officers in other wars complaining about the habit of relatively ineffective long range fire and the difficulties of getting troops to advance closer once they'd settled into it.

I can understand why - yes, some people get killed even at longer ranges, but...

1/2 mv² says doubling the weight doubles the impact, but doubling the speed = four times the impact.

I suspect it doesn't help that there are often more people using the tables outside the reading rooms for doing work they could do anywhere than people inside them doing stuff they couldn't do anywhere else.

See how easy it is now to get a reader's pass.

It wasn't just the biphobia and bi-erasure I didn't like in It's A Sin, it was also the way that one of the characters was 'photocopying' these.

As well as the absolutely perfect printing, the SAVE isn't well kerned, but all the other text is.

It's not impossible that it was censorship - is everyone else saying 'twat'?
November 15, 2025 at 9:59 AM
Another example of 'if I was evil, I'd be rich'.

Get other people to pay me 110% of the price I have agreed to buy art work, charge them more for having it where I want, and sell it only if I want to.

It really needs 'buying from related parties' as well though.

Some people do not get that enthusiastic consent is not just for the bedroom.
