Polls outside of an election campaign aren’t that useful. But in this case, as a lead up to a Leadership review for Pierre Poilievre in January it speaks that he’s not the right leader to take on the Mark Carney Liberals.

Canada’s reputation continues to rise on the global stage in 2025 jumping to #3 in the Anholt Nation Brands Index while the US drops to #14. This is one of the most robust global studies in its 20th year with a sample representing more than 70% of the world’s population (and 80% of its economy).

Even more important this year we observe Transgender Awareness Day in 🇨🇦. We need to take the words of our anthem seriously to ‘Stand on Guard for Thee’ and push back on the provincial right wing governments trampling on their Charter Rights.
November 20, 2025 at 1:52 PM
This is what happens when we give the far right power in Canada. They use it to bully those most vulnerable to satisfy their ideological base. Shame on Danielle Smith for stripping Charter Rights from Alberta parents/youth and hiding behind the Notwithstanding Clause.

I advocate we push back on all extremism (left/right/other) and reflect on the systems that foster radicalization. In this US study of domestic extremism, the data shows extremist events are primarily race based (49%) or right wing based (28%) but there is left wing extremist violence as well (8%).

Let’s put aside the heavy topics for a minute and celebrate of furry or feathered friends. Here’s my Bailey girl on her birthday. And yes she is a princess!

Left wing vs Right wing has devolved into Left Wing extremists vs Right Wing extremists. Instead of demonizing each other, it’s time to denounce extremism in all its forms. It’s time to take the best of left AND right and use the tools as needed depending on the global forces shaping society.

Canada should not yield any ground to the White Nationalist movement. No public permits, no rental of private facilities without protests. Active defence.
It’s bad enough having fascists in the US, but Canada needs to remain free in our support of diversity.

It was ~3pm on September 28, 1972. I was 6yrs old sitting in the gymnasium with the rest of my school watching Game 8 of the Summit Series on an old black & white TV high up on the rolling TV stand. The day is etched in my memory. Ken Dryden kept us in the game to enable the famous winning goal.

🔬Science Saturday. With a conspiracy theorist as US Secretary of Health about to announce findings on the cause of the rise in autism in the US, it’s going to be important for real health care experts and scientists to step forward in support of the science over conspiracy.

Canada has a patriotism issue among Conservative voters. Nearly 30% have a favourable opinion of Donald Trump. 21% support Canada being the 51st State and a whooping 43% support Alberta separation. These are all significantly higher than progressive voters. #Canpoli

Sunday thoughts: MAGA Evangelicals rage about the Cracker Barrel logo redesign that it might as well be in rainbow colours. It would be nice if they focused their rage on areas Jesus would actually rage about: stripping Medicaid benefits, the genocide in Gaza, the Epstein files…

I’m old enough to remember when the biggest scandal for a 2-term president was that he wore a tan suit. The Trump administration is tightening its fascist grip around the throat of US democracy while the Democrats and the media let them. Where is the resistance going to come from?

I saw quite a few grief posts today. When I went though a long season of grief I started responding to questions about how I was doing with ‘Day by Day’ referring to this song, yes Im a GenXer! If you’re struggling with waves of grief, remember to take it ‘Day by Day’

Sunday Thoughts: Pastor Paul Drees does a great job explaining what Christian Nationalism is and why it’s the opposite of what Jesus teaches. It’s why we’ve protested Sean Feaucht during his Canadian tour. All Canadians should be pushing back on Christian Nationalism being imported here.
