#A-Schubert-A-Day Day 102 ‘Rastlose Liebe’, D138 from 19 May 1815. Oh wow! What a turbulent little moment this is. The music passes by in flurries, just like the snow in the text. www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dw.asp?dc=W1...

#A-Schubert-A-Day Day 101 ‘Die Mainacht’, D194 from 17 May 1815. Oh boy, do I love the fabulous play on light and shadow here. www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dw.asp?dc=W2...

#A-Schubert-A-Day Day 100 ‘An de Monde’, D193 from 17 May 1815. A beautifully flowing and atmospheric song, totally in keeping with the subject material. I could listen to this one for hours! www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dw.asp?dc=W2...

Or how about this?

I am not sure this one will be any easier.

It can be done with a bit of rocking back and forth.

#A-Schubert-A-Day Day 99 ‘Der Jungling am Bache’, second setting, D192 from 15 May 1815. An update of the first version, rather than something totally new. www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dw.asp?dc=W2...

#A-Schubert-A-Day Day 98 ‘Des Mädchens Klage’, second setting, D191. A spine-tingling song, this one. I find it haunting, somehow. www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dw.asp?dc=W2...

Weird that. Like someone else wrote a piece of music using an ‘Ode to Joy’.

A fair few have appeared on BBC Music from Mackerras. A fabulous Mahler 6, for example.

We also need Mackerras Telarc, Decca and probably a number of other boxes too!

I preordered it, but will have to wait to see how much I get back.

Very different to the Previn. Less obviously spontaneous, I would say. But deeply coherent. Whilst I missed the moments of animal explosion in the Previn, I think repeated listenings will dig up more subtle benefits.

At the moment I am in the ‘I’m pleased I have this’ rather than the ‘oh my god where have you been all my life’ state, though I want to listen a few more times.
