Today's trip to Musée Camille Claudel in Nogent-sur-Seine was a superb, incl. the temporary exhibition, all about her monumental work "Sakountala", based on a Hindu myth popularised in France by a stage show in the 1890s. The few Rodins on show were standard, tiresome, sexualized, male-gaze fare...

A wintry walk along Paris's Left Bank yesterday: the Institut de France and its rather fabulously located bookstore, baubles galore at venerable Lapérouse restaurant, and a very fine selection of French writing in English translation (incl. 2 of mine, by Antoine Laurain) at Shakespeare & Co. ❤️🇫🇷📚
