‘The actual story is people crossing a stretch of deadly sea, in unfit boats, who can’t swim, who’ve never driven a boat before, with life jackets that don’t pass muster’

If we were any sort of civilised country we’d be doing everything we could to save their lives.

P.s. Migrants prove your ‘value’.

More lives lost including 1 woman & 2 children.

Government have just closed refugee family reunion (RFR) safe route. 56% of grants for RFR were children & 37% were women. So the number of women & children crossing, and dying, is going to soar.

All these factors massively harm people & our communities. And they all come at an eye watering cost to us as taxpayers.

Which is why Labour always pledged to close them. Now they’re planning to open more.

It’s being reported that Government are about to announce the furthering the use of Barracks to warehouse Refugees.

Ignoring the findings of the National Audit Office report that these are significantly more expensive than hotels. But that’s just the financial cost

£9.95 a week, that’s how much people in hotels are paid in lieu of working rights.

Pathetic posturing.

How was this allowed to happen? Not only is he an actual Councillor for Reform but he posted a series of anti Refugee, racist dog whistles on to his socials.

Each and every asylum decision he made must be reviewed.

What a shambles!

‘We are not even beginning to understand what it means to have a serious asylum problem’. She’s 100% correct.

We have a very serious asylum policy problem, so let’s talk about that instead of demonising the people enduring it.

New report on the conditions in Wethersfield Asylum camp from @dotwuk.bsky.social

The government claiming we were becoming an ‘Island of Strangers’ continue to segregate people, warehouse them without inadequate support & safeguarding measures. reliefweb.int/report/unite...

Kenmure Street, Glasgow. Four years ago.

Ordinary people stopped what they were doing to protect their neighbours. No strangers.

Happy Kenmure Street Day ✊

‘France has now agreed that they will intervene in French waters in order to prevent small boats’.

‘Intervene’ how? This sounds an awful lot like we’re sanctioning push backs now.

Cutting visa access will simply drive more people into dangerous irregular migration. Irregular Migration is a symptom of a restrictive border regime. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction…

Will we ever step back & make migration work for everyone?
May 11, 2025 at 10:28 AM
The piece does cover the conditions King and others force refugees into, missing is the Room Sharing, refugees being stacked & racked into tiny rooms for months if not years, the hopelessness, trauma, mental health crisis, the trafficking & exploitation they’re subjected to.

‘Britains asylum hotel King Billionaire’. Making Big Money from Misery.

Interestingly this piece explores the number of people crossing to claim asylum. Even the number of visa applications. And not once does it mention the Tory asylum ban.

Weaponising the visa system to prevent people travelling safely to seek asylum drives irregular migration. This precisely what smugglers require to further their horrific business model.

Our country’s choke hold on visas is a smugglers dream.

I can’t understate just how deeply unhelpful this ‘intervention’ is from The Tatchell Foundation.

LGBT people seeking asylum already face an overwhelming culture of disbelief and denial, they already have to endure intrusive & risky questioning through their asylum journey

People held in Manston subjected to extreme racist abuse over the Mitie radio system.

These people are paid an absolute fortune to warehouse people who’ve asked for our help.

New migration statistics out today show a 4000% rise in asylum refusals for Afghans from Qtr4 ‘23 compared to Qtr 4 ‘24.

Have the Taliban been replaced with a feminist, human rights respecting democracy? Nope. Government are ‘clearing the backlog’ by refusing refugees status.
