Just heard the resounding news that my story "Desperate Times, Desperate Crimes" from The New England Review 45.3 has just won a Pushcart Prize. My thanks to Jim Gavin at Tiger Van Books who did the heavy lifting on this one, and Carolyn Kuebler at NER who did the fine tuning.

Apparently there is one brilliant literary critic in the wilds of Pasadena who happens to be whiling away her days at Vroman’s Bookstore. Ocassionally she makes her opinions known and bibliophiles of taste take note. Chocolates for Ella if I ever get out to the San Gabriel.

New story from my friend Anne-Marie Kinney up at Terrazzo. We go back to the late great Black Clock and this story should remind you of that and Annie Ernaux. Stick around for the interview.

Couldn't ask for a better launch for "Hollywoodski". Chevalier's Books put together a great event, 80+ people and they sold every copy of the book they had.

If you had any doubts as to whether you should be buying a copy of "Hollywoodski" here is yet another free sample posted today by the kind editors at Lit Hub. My thanks to Emily Firetog. If you like this, make it to the launch tonight at Chevaliers. 6 p.m.

Relentlessly promoting my new book atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris. What actually happened was that the lovely Sonya Cassidy brought her copy over from London, handed it to me along with a glass of champagne then recorded my sheepish grin for posterity. Official publication date is January 21st.
