"Bong’s films go for the stomach, the heart, and the funny bone."

Fantastic analysis of three of Bong Joon Ho's films. His underdog characters and genre mixing are big parts of what I find so compelling about his movies.
There is a time for bold, heroic characters. But in Bong Joon Ho's movies, there is equally a time for losers. Elaine U. Cho on underdogs in Okja, Snowpiercer, and The Host, and how they lend us inspiration anyways:

2025 has been such a great year for horror films. Not only is the overall quality SO high, but the variety has been incredible. Sinners, Weapons, Final Destination Bloodlines, The Long Walk, Black Phone 2—they’re all totally different. Can’t wait to see what the last couple months of the year hold!
