Still feels like summer here in Dunoon, but foliage starting to turn.
#Scape taken a few years ago overlooking the Crinan Canal in Argyll and Bute. The 9 mile long canal, opened in 1801, provides a navigable route to cut off the long sail around the Kintyre Peninsula.

We're used to seeing the brown, dried remains of #seaweed left behind on beaches, but low tide along a rocky shore reveals the wonderful tones and textures when it's freshly revealed.

Colourful geological deposits along the North Devon coast near Bideford. Carboniferous shales, slates, mudstones, and glacial deposits offer an amazing array of pigments such as the elusive Bideford Black.

Artists prize Bideford Black for it's deep, velvety black colour, and non-reflective properties.
