Non-spoiler new comics reviews on Tuesdays!
I don't know what to say about Absolute Batman 14. This is truly a series where anything can happen. Unmatched action. Dragotta's art taps into manga sensibilities here more than ever. So much packed into 26 pages, no ad interruptions either! Get current on single issues, be part of this moment!

If you have DC K.O. 2 & Superman 32, read K.O. first. This week's Superman gets into Luthor's plan & how his players got in the mix. I don't love seeing the Legion as villains, but hopefully new readers seeing how powerful & persistent they are will be ready for their heroic return to form someday.

Justice League Unlimited 13 was really good. To the reader, not the characters! Mr Terrific leads a team of time/continuity displaced heroes on a mission few will return from. Speaking of DC items of power, I finally get what the Bell, Wheel, & Jar are about. I think Mora loved drawing this one.

DC K.O. 2 is a lot of action and a lot of champions clashing quickly. Kind of reminded me of the keep away in Avengers Endgame only the goal is to acquire many DC items of power, not one. All that aside, this issue really comes down to just one battle. Physical & philosophical. Superman and Luthor.

Batman/ Green Arrow/ The Question taps into those Grell-O'Neil aesthetics that those fans miss and will like, but also tells its story in a way that new readers will get into also. A mystery connects the three, but their methods and goals may be at odds. Well done @gabrielhardman.bsky.social

Impulse plans to change past & the Flash follows to retrieve him, but Darkseid's Legion can be anywhere, any time, with ease. A very fun & thoughtful issue as the Speedsters try to deal with superior opponents, not endanger people, & try to not change the past! Mark Waid is writing Wally & Bart!

Green Arrow 30 is the final showdown with the Crimson Archer, but if you sample this issue you will see art that is elevated to a type of cinematography. The fight choreography alone is awesome, but I've never see the "camera" follow arrows like this. If you appreciate sequential art this is it!

Skinbreaker is an immersive comic that anyone can read & enjoy. The @robertkirkman.bsky.social story is clear & relatable and the Finch art is impressive yet easy to follow. This series works on many levels. If you see issues 1-3 add them to your stack and read this weekend. You'll be glad you did.

I wasn't into the Thor Lord of Asgard era at all & the Magni character means nothing to me, until Mortal Thor 4! What a truly surprising issue. It sets up to do the usual, but does something new. There's no such thing as a bad character, In the right hands any concept can become interesting!

Your local comic shop is open Wednesday and would love to see you in! You want your new releases with you for the holiday & your LCS would love to do a Wednesday/Thursday business in one day to not miss a beat. But ahead of that let’s see what we can see in this stack!

I watched this sci-fi “movie” on Nickelodeon back in 1984, but had no idea what it was called. I remembered the end but not the name. @kennethwreid.bsky.social immediately knew the name & today I thought I would watch. I was NOT ready for how creepy this was. Does anyone else remember UFO Kidnapped?

Our friends at Comic Envy in Asheville have a very special event happening Sunday! A rare South East appearance of the one and only Kevin Smith! Who am I going to see there??

Ultimates 18 is a last ditch appeal not just to potential super heroes, but the world itself to take up action where it can in whatever form it can. If you're behind on The Ultimates or Ultimate Spider-man or never read Ultimate Wolverine for example get caught up because Endgame is soon!

Superman Unlimited 7 is a Jon Kent spotlight. He takes up a new role and purpose beyond being Superman. And a classic concept is re-introduced. A great thing about @danslott.bsky.social on this series is the ever increasing supporting cast and world building that we will be getting!

It took about three issues, but I have really warmed up to Absolute Flash. I like this Wally and the world around him. Based on what I saw in issue 9, I think this title is about to do something important that none of the other series will get into. This is the science series!

Reading Batman Deadpool after the latest Off Panel Podcast from @davidharper.bsky.social with Grant Morrison as the guest was a great combo. Morrison has a lot of fun which means I had a lot of fun and so will you! Check out both!

Dreadnok War in G.I. Joe is a lot of fun, but that was as bad of a hit as I've seen recently towards the end of the issue. No clue how that will play out. Could be Rock N' Roll all over again. Don't forget that this along with Transformers & Void Rivals makes up your complete Energon Universe diet!

Having new Powers issues in 2025 means a lot to me & I know its the same for others. I'm glad to be able to introduce this to new people as well as that first graphic novel too. Powers 25 issue 3 introduces us all to a very cool new character. @brianmbendis.bsky.social & @oeming.bsky.social are back

One World Under Doom ended & I need to re-read the whole thing. Doctor Doom is an important character to me since discovering him. Unfortunately, there's a critical point that I literally can't read due to the font/coloring. Neither could someone else. Also, there's an "after ads" scene to not miss!

Spider-man finds himself alone for the holidays & the heroes of the Marvel Universe can't have that so he spends quality time with the Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-men, even Daredevil. A much needed fun read from @rainbowrowell.bsky.social. Pick up the Holiday Special for yourself or someone else!

Star Trek Last Starship 2 got my attention. In the furthest future Starfleet has been nearly destroyed in the wake of The Burn from Discovery. A vessel with unconventional tech heeds the call to route the Klingons. Someone who may or may not be James Kirk is aboard. He doesn't know either!

Just got home after a 12 hour day. Ate leftovers way too fast. I know I can’t read all 30 comics I have with me, but I’ll do what I can. It is a deceptively huge new comic book day tomorrow. Looking at you Batman/ Deadpool. Formerly empty boxes are full boxes. Cool things await, let’s get into it!

There's a very cool & genuine note from @dantrachtenberg.bsky.social in the new Predator Badlands prequel comic out this week. I wonder if @ethansacks.bsky.social got to see the movie early to be able to write this early mission of Dek. Predator Badlands is a theater grade movie so see it soon!

I think that sometimes we forget that it is ok for comic books to be neat. Or make you feel pretty good. The current Supergirl series reminds me of that. Especially issue 7. Move over King Shark, its Princess Shark week this week. I'd love to see more people interacting this series as it exists now.

I didn't think I would like Evangeline in Amazing Spider-man Torn, but something about her origin and design do make her an easy fit into the early-ish rogues gallery. She could be too close to a goblin design, but isn't. Hope she survives to appear in the present day somehow.
