The whole phenomenon does explain why I've never really been compelled to write fiction for works that are fully completed, even when I really like the world or premise. I like to pick them apart, but don't exactly feel compelled to add to it.

If I don't find a new character brain finds Really Interesting TM, then I tend to drop off a fandom a bit, like with HSR after Aventurine. I've also had issues with maintaining other fandom interests when a story isn't given much attention anymore, like Overwatch.

First off, the fixation generally revolves around a character and stems from there. Furina, Neuvillette, and Wriothesley were at the peak of my interest before and during the Fontaine Archon Quest. It then tapered off from there where I still adore them, but am not rotating them in my mind anymore.
