A comment hereabouts made me think when the re-rise of horror as a kind of ‘respectable’ film genre happened. I say ‘re-rise’ because it’s had its moments when it’s been up there, from Whale to Lewton to Carpenter. I’d say its recent rise started with j-horror around 1998. What do you think?

‘Napoleon Napoleon
Of course he was a Corsican
Of course he can if he says he can
Cos of course he was a Corsican’

To be sung to rubbish brass band oom-pah music.

Chestnuts are apparently not a weird physical ailment.
That’s my dodgy joke quota for the year sorted.
August 23, 2025 at 5:08 AM
I’m killing time with jokes cos I’m still working on music so I’ve nothing to post on that front. But by the end of this year I might have finished enough to release an album a week for all of next year. Some might be good. Meanwhile, eff it - one more joke and then off again for a coupla months.

I wish Angelina Jolie would marry the inventor of the ATM, because then we could go to the wedding and sing ‘for she’s a Jolie-Goodfellow’. And that would be hilarious.

Oh I’m on here, so time for some jokes: I recently discovered that Finland is not the nickname of the Melbourne Aquarium.
Pearler, am I right?

Today I discovered if I say ‘French fries franchise’ over and over again and faster and faster, I sound like a steam engine.

In case anyone thinks I’m being slack … I have 378 songs up on Soundcloud. 134 songs ready to be mastered. 859 more songs in various stages of completion. All different genres too, across 1371 tunes.
I get exhausted just thinking about ‘em!

Not as glamorous nor as young as The Molotovs mod offering (I’ll post that later, but hell, the brother and sister in that band are just 17 and 18 respectively! Amazing stuff!!). But this is nonetheless some kickass and loud r’n’b mod pub-worthy thrash from a while back.

An old song of mine from one of my pop jaunts. Written about 1986 I’m thinking. Bit Smiths-ish. I’m working on about six projects from noisy angular post punk to pastoral piano stuff. But I should post stuff I’ve already put up about the joint in the meantime …

I’ve coated the cover of my new book with superglue.
Many reviewers are writing that they struggled to put the book down.

If I got a Can covers band together, I’d play the songs really, really, really badly.
I’d call the band Can’t.

So I heard that at a recent U2 concert the Edge was escorted from the stage by a Leprechaun, part of Bono’s new workplace scheme to employ more mythical and magical beings in rock band support staff.

Yes, that’s right: apparently Bono needed a little something to take the Edge off.

Will post music again soon. But maybe some lighthearted palaver … I Googled this as my brain meandered onto its almost time for bed random setting , and I cannot believe that there isn’t a business called ‘Plumb and Plumber’.

Should post more. But I can’t pass up this - happy 99th to David Attenborough. What a treasure, what an empathic soul to all the other critters we share this planet with, what a gift his documentaries have been. This photo of he and Jane Goodall from the Guardian article is all sorts of wonderful.

So I’m gonna be putting some new stuff up shortly (about a month). But the songs on the four albums I released end of Nov last year have collectively hit nearly 18000 plays. Which is all right for my little neck of the woods! This one has the most:

See ya Brian James. Came late to the party, Jan 1978, ‘New rose’ on the Stiff Records flexi disc with RAM magazine here in Oz. Immediately got the first album. Cracker. Here they are doing a fine stab at Alice.

Here’s an old tune of mine, usual cheap as chips, lo-fi video production!

Steve Jones turned 69 a bit back. Funny, cool, kinda sweet, he posts the occasional vid of him in his bathroom singing and playing songs. His choices are great! Here he is, blue nail polish on his big toes, doing Roxy’s ‘More than this’.

Three covers from a live recording back in, gulp, 1980 with my first gigging band The Manics. That band lasted some eight months, from when I was 17 to mid 18!

The covers are: Train in Vain (The Clash), You belong to me (Elvis Costello), A Bomb in Wardour Street (The Jam).

And more summer jangle. This from, ooh, 1987. In that Go-Betweens to Icicle Works ballpark, if y’all can recall that far back! Lots of me as a young tyke when we all lived beachside way south of Adelaide. Nawwww.

Best post something otherwise it’ll all go mouldy.
Here’s a slightly treble-y song from 1996-1997. Vaguely Beach Boys, vaguely punk summer pop.
