Art that pushes people's buttons and challenges them can and should exist... but it's usually not the "devil's advocate" type stuff that does it well

Ugh yes. We see this with the early year art students and we try to encourage them out of that. Asking them "What is the end goal?" and getting them to think about the idea extrapolated to its utmost point usually gets them to figure out why it's problematic... but not all of them 🫠
