It’s a result of lack supply & increased demand. I live on the Bay Area peninsula & the only town, West of El Camino, that is remotely affordable is the one building high rise apartments.

Not surprised. A couple of my first jobs, as early HS, was to transcribe the dictation of some very rich & powerful men into emails, letters & even academic papers (college). They were so used to doing things one way & didn’t want learn the new way.
