I agree, it’s not an automatic winner, but I believe a well designed, well thought through govt system would be better than being ripped off as you say. There are ways to fund them, including collecting the hundreds of billions of tax money stashed offshore, taxing the rich. It’s a mess at present.

Imagine the chaos of government owned necessary facilities like water! All those clean rivers, surfers not dodging shit. Or those not for profit transport facilities with balanced ticket costs. How would we cope? I’m old enough to remember when this was the norm, pre Thatcher, it works.

And of course there’s that oft discussed raising the tax threshold for those earning and sitting on piles of cash.
