Ever wondered how you open up a coconut to get at the flesh inside for making coconut milk?

Wonder no more 🙂 We did a video explaining how we do it in #SriLanka:

Just to clarify, each users submissions are private. Also, it will be free as long the current server can support operations. I'll include some screenshots in a reply.
Wrote a submission tracker yesteerday. (Well wrote two but that's a different story).

What struck me was that most submission trackers are paid services. Is anybody interested in a free one?

If you are, let me know and I'll throw this up on my server so others can use (for free).

Holy carp. I just learned about wood squirrels in Sri Lanka today. Also known as grizzled giant squirrels.

These things are massive! Head to tail, they can be 35 inches long. That is not a typo, people!

Editing @fahim.farook.org's sci-fi short story about ancient Sri Lankan people and holy smokes the story! It's good! The world building! I know I'm biased, but...

I can't wait for y'all to be able to read it.

I've seen his ideas. We've talked about them. I've read the first bit of one story. They're goooooood.

My vote is Old Lanka. What do you think?

I'm writing a short story about ancient Sri Lanka, before the Mahavamsa, about the Yaksha, Naga, Deva tribes. The story is going so well, that I'm thinking of making this another series ...

Question is, what do I call the series? "Old Lanka" or "Lore of Lanka?" Other? Opinions?

Decided give those "paranoid" thoughts free reign 🙂But to avoid confusion, created a separate account.

The first thought (as always) is about my wife 😀
The wife has been giving me weird looks lately. I'm sure she's plotting something ... she's been buying a lot of graph paper.

I haven't written in years - brain fog, debilitating headaches, untreated suspected AuDHD, chronic illness. And 2 days ago, a solution for a giant plot hole for one of my novels (88k words written, but unedited) came to me. Brilliant!

Oy. I don't know I'm going to do this.

PSA for writers: if a publisher dangles a contract offer but first wants to know how many of your own books you plan to buy...your answer will 100% determine whether you actually get the contract. Along w/ things like not paying royalties till production costs recouped, this is stealth vanity pub

I enjoy hearing from other people. Mostly online is the only place I get to talk to people besides the wife 🙂

So, been following a lot of author starter packs today to find interesting people. Also, if an account folllows me and it has posts and says interseting stuff, I follow.

Absolutely please do this but also be aware that it helps if it's a new book! Some libraries will not buy books older than 12-18 months old. 😬

(This particularly helps Canadians due to how our PLR system is set up by the way! Thank you!)

Since @bsky.app now actively trying to promote videos here, I think it is fair to start asking and bothering to introduce automatic captioning and suggest users to add subtitles.

As a deaf person, it really frustrates me when I have to do more work when a 60-second video shows up without captions.
