I’d widen this out to Tumblr and Pinterest’s effect on reposting art without crediting the artist, making it the norm that it is not important who made something or why as long as you get the dopamine rush of sharing it, thus being a “creator” by proxy.
Okay maybe this is too hot a take for 5:30pm on a Saturday but I think meme accounts that don’t give any attribution paved the way for people to accept AI words and imagery because it separated culture and entertainment from the idea that someone had to have those thoughts and compose them.
