Yesterday in Parliament I said that the government should leave X.
🔉What dangers does X pose to our democracy? And should the government stop using it?

Good to hear yesterday from @sundersays.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social on the immense risk of X as it ignores legal obligations and its owner tries to influence UK politics.

Funny how there's no extra money for winter planning, but when it comes to sacking frontline clinical staff (yes, you did read that right - it's not JUST admin) they can suddenly find the cash.

Oh, and we ALREADY have 100,000 vacancies.

Utter, utter madness.

Appreciate the @theflytrapmedia.com shoutout in this great @taylorcrumpton.bsky.social read about the loss of Teen Vogue and what Teen Vogue meant for early-career writers, especially BIPOC and disabled writers, who face significant barriers to entering the field.
Teen Vogue's closure isn't a sign of what’s to come in media, but a reminder of the crisis already here
"Young people, specifically young women, are disregarded by those in power. Teen Vogue was a place where they not only felt empowered, but were encouraged to do so" – writes Taylor Crumpton.

I'm one of the four fired employees. I was a writer & producer at Bon Appétit for nearly five years, during which I helped organize our union and sat on our bargaining committee.

I am, to my knowledge, the only trans woman in our union and the only trans woman on editorial who doesn't work at Them
New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

Still waiting for a reaction by UK politicians and the media to Elon Musk's call for 'the English to ally with the hard men, like Tommy Robinson, and fight for their survival or they shall surely all die' and his claim that 'civil war is inevitable'.

Why does the UK government still use Twitter/X?
