I've bounced some ideas off of it for fairly dark or serious stories about young magicians or wizards and it loves to suggest references to whimsical and silly magical mishaps or unexplained off-screen incidents unless you firmly instruct it not to. "Here's breakfast, I hope it's worth it, I singed my sleeves by accident with the fire spell I used to cook it." "It could be worse, remember when you accidentally turned the professor into a goat last week?" It really sets me off if I'm going for a tone like Dragon Age: Origins and it gives me Harry Potter with special guest Fizban the Fabulous. Trying to force a moral ending. I can give a prompt such as “Tell me a story about two gladiators that hate each other and fight to the death.” and a lot of models will give me something like this at the end: “With Lucius defeated, the arena fell into a frenzy, but Marcus turned away, haunted by the knowledge that he had not just fought an enemy, but a man who had once been a reflection of himself—a warrior bound by circumstance. As he walked away, the echoes of their battle would haunt him forever, a reminder that in the arena of life, true victory often comes at the cost of our humanity.” The gladiator should be happy he won and killed his enemy not this sappy melancholy.

Post on the writing with AI subreddit titled What are some cliches or tropes you’ve noticed AI pushes a lot in writing I mostly use ChatGPT for writing fanfics, especially DC comic fics. Some things I see a lot: Chatgpt is obsesed with ozone. Everything smells like ozone. What the heck does ozone smell like? I wouldn't know! (For reference, it's usually described as an acidic bleach-like smell or a sickly sweet smell) Lots of foreheads touching. I guess this is a way to avoid getting too sexual, but characters will touch foreheads instead of kiss. You have to ask for kisses Leather jackets. Why all the leather jackets? Every character seems to have a leather jacket! Is this something it learned from Wattpad? Minimal to no cursing, even in M or R rated stories. Replying to someone saying they're "thinking" with "That's dangerous". Edit: Chatgpt also can't write discriminatory characters for squat. Even bullying is super light-hearted. I got it to throw around the "d" slur for lesbians a few times but that was about it. Every character is so dang optimistic when it comes to queer issues or mental health issues. They all speak like therapists. Religious expressions. Oh, God, Christ, Jesus, and the like. Everything is "raw." (Something raw in his expression, his voice was raw, the questions came out raw.) Faux action negation, or simply put, meaningless actions. (He smoked a cigarette he didn't want. She drank a coffee she didn't really want. She washed a dish that was already clean. She stared at the book she wasn't really reading.) Casual clothing placeholders. Everyone is in shorts, tees, thin/soft cotton, sweats, leggings, etc. Idle domestic filler as a crutch. Dishwashing, folding laundry, reading books, drinking tea/coffee. Overly cinematic setups that do nothing to progress the story. I don't give a single fuck about how the 'neon lights shine through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a glow on the stainless steel appliances in the spotless penthouse.' Everyone is spent, ruined, wrecked, undone, or left boneless. Fingers "tracing lazy circles." Physical tells that substitute emotion. I've never seen so many tight jaws, worked throats, hitched breaths, and flexed fingers in my life. Smug callbacks to established dynamics. For example. "You're a menace/insufferable/trouble." "You love it." Sitcom beats/false banter. Chasing his/her release. Hit like a physical blow/freight train/physical force. "The confession set between them like a stone dropped in still water." Pupils blown. Tongues battling for dominance. Every time I want to show characters relaxing or studying, it’ll write “it was quiet except for the gentle hum of the radiator”. I told it repeatedly that the 18th century doesn’t have radiators, but it won’t listen.

Post on the Olive Garden subreddit. My server ordered himself a refill on my never ending pasta bowl...and it felt weird. So my wife and I went to our local Olive Garden the other night, and we had a server who was acting goofy AF from the beginning. When we ordered our food, I told him I was getting the never ending pasta bowl and he said "I'm gonna order myself a refill on your order, when it comes out just set it to the side for me". We laughed. He said it again when he brought the salad, and again when he brought the entrees out. It was getting a little weird. THEN HE ACTUALLY DID IT. Gave me the plate and a to go box and told me to just set it off to the side for him.

In 1994-1995, McDonalds had a series of animal plush toys, and I brought the monkey to my grandparent’s house for a weekend. My grandpa named the monkey Janet and made up a bunch of stories for her. It became a “thing” and I still have her today in my kitchen window.
