NYS Senator representing Midtown, UES, Roosevelt Island, Chelsea, Gramercy, and Flatiron.
Chair, Senate Finance Committee
In this trying period in the history of our nation and our planet, it's important to take time out to consider the ways we are fortunate, to practice gratitude, and to reflect on how we can expand the circle of wellbeing to include more of our neighbors. Happy Thanksgiving!

On #VeteransDay, we honor the example set by those in our armed forces, of choosing to serve the community and sacrifice for a cause greater than self.

The NESE Pipeline is an expensive mistake that New Yorkers will be paying for for years.

Proud to join @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social to talk to voters on the UES today. He is the only candidate offering real solutions to the problems that are front of mind for NYers, and the only one committed to serving the interests of NYers, not his own and especially not Donald Trump's.

A joyous and peaceful Diwali to all who are celebrating!

Today we recognize and honor the Indigenous peoples who have inhabited this land for millennia. Manhattan was once home to over 20k Lenape people. Today, New York City has the largest number of American Indians and Alaska Natives of any location in the US.

Donald Trump's judicial attack on AG James is anti-American, anti-democratic, and dangerous.

G'mar chatima tova and a meaningful fast to all who are celebrating Yom Kippur!

Crypto miners are driving up electricity costs while providing nothing of value to the state or local communities. My bill w/@amannakelles.bsky.social will ensure they pay their fair share of the costs they create, while helping regular NYers pay the bills. More: www.nysenate.gov/newsroom/pre...

Yesterday we stood in the rain to call on @governor.ny.gov to sign the 100-ft rule repeal, end forced subsidies for gas system expansion, and save gas ratepayers millions of dollars.

Balcony solar is a powerful tool to deliver enhanced energy independence and affordability to millions of New Yorkers who are currently shut out of the solar economy. Sunshine is free, and my bill with @emilyassembly.bsky.social will let NYers finally plug in.

Best wishes for health, hope, peace, and sweetness to spread far and wide in this new year. Shana Tovah!

New Yorkers are being railroaded into paying for Donald Trump's pipeline, a gift to his Big Oil donors on our dime. Today's PSC vote was a setback, but there is still time for @governor.ny.gov to put a stop to this nonsense.

Today, once again, we remember those who were lost, those who were left behind, and those gave "the last full measure of devotion" in service to others. Let us honor their memories by working every day for a more just and peaceful world.

Over the last 249 years, through immense struggle and sacrifice, Americans of good will have inched our country ever closer to our founding promise. Now, as much as any other time in our history, we are called upon to protect that progress and ensure it continues for the next dozen generations.

I have significant concerns about @governor.ny.gov's intention to build new nuclear power plants in New York communities.

So proud to be out talking to voters today with my #1 choice for mayor, @bradlander.bsky.social!

Happy #Juneteenth. This day recognizes threads of America's past and present that must not be forgotten or erased - the atrocity of enslavement, the triumph of liberation, and the incredible resilience of African American people and culture in overcoming centuries of oppression.

In the last week alone the Trump Regime has moved our country several steps closer to dictatorship. But America has faced off with dictators before, and we are undefeated. Today the people will demonstrate why American democracy will outlast Trumpism. #NoKings

Yesterday, the Senate passed a package of ratepayer protection bills, and my GOP colleagues tried to falsely blame our state's Climate Law for rising rates. But, as usual, the facts got in their way. Here's some truth: the NY HEAT Act will save ratepayers billions of dollars. Let's get it done.

#MemorialDay began after the Civil War, to honor those who died in the fight to end slavery and save American democracy. Let us continue to honor all those who have died in our country's wars by working every day for justice and peace, and against authoritarianism and oppression.

So pleased and proud to endorse @bradlander.bsky.social for mayor! I’ve known Brad for years. He's a dedicated public servant whose effective, bold, smart leadership delivers results. In the face of Trump and the never-ending corruption of Eric Adams & Andrew Cuomo, it's time for competence.

Yesterday I was proud to stand with @32bjseiu.bsky.social to call for passage of my Fair Pricing Act. Hospitals are buying up doctors' offices and jacking up prices for basic services - this bill would lower those costs and save New Yorkers over a billion dollars a year.
