I like books, but not just any books.
I eschew disregard of the shared path etiquette.
Too far east is west.
Equal opportunist.

UK Government doing its bit
There were zero plans to invest in our natural capital - despite the fact it would add billions to our economy, create jobs & benefit the whole of society in countless ways.

Ignoring nature is short-sighted.

You cannot build a stable future on a collapsing natural foundation.

Maybe the next generation will set its sights on solving systemic problems instead of “My burrito is at a restaurant, but I’m all cozy here so, can a guy with a medical degree from another country bring it to me.” We’ve got that covered, and then some.

In essence: juries are important for what decisions they prevent others from making.
Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

What Trump has made me realise is how much the post-Cold War relationship hinged on shared values rather than shared interests. Trump is illustrating how, whether on Ukraine and Gaza, our interests diverge and, absent those values, there's not much holding us together.

In Slovakia, the law newly allows priests to enter hospitals without any restrictions.

HENDRIK DRÖßLER & RICHARD PATASSY stress that the law omits reference to a patient’s consent, warning that the ECHR prohibits improper proselytism and requires clear consent:

Today I received some election guff from NigeFarage Ltd. It was addressed to me, and my son who's in his 20s and lives at my place. They put his name first and mine last, no doubt because they discerned that I am but A Lady, in their quaint parlance. That's the least of it, but shows wind direction💨

The Czech ticket controller offers to talk to me Czech, Slovak, English, German or Polish. Very confusing question, but also a sign that we're nearing the heart of Mitteleuropa.

Did u know? For the small souls in your garden, the very cold weather can be as dry as very hot weather,so always provide daily fresh water. To slow freezing rates, put balls, sticks & other objects into your ponds/birdbaths etc. It'll leave tiny areas underneath that are ice-free for longer. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🐦‍⬛🌍

A whale caught in crab nets is fighting for her life on the Oregon Coast near Yachats, with so many people rushing there before official help arrives at dawn. The whale is vocalizing distress, asking for help. It's devastating. We have to find a way to stop entanglements. Unconscionable.

Vision can sound wanky, but it matters. Done well, it gives you a cross check for everything you do. It allows people to act with autonomy - and the wider world to plan around where you are headed.

Some of Ukraine's challenges (such as military manpower shortage) have clear (if unpopular) solutions that require political courage, this one is a structural problem that sits deep inside the heads that yearn for a golden bidet. Just like, you know, the Golden White House guy.
