Aurora photographers: How do I set iPhone 16 to take a 10-sec exposure? (I don't want to use a 3rd party app or edit a live shot after the fact). Can you force it to do 10 secs, or does it depend on the ambient light? With an overcast sky, I can't get it above 3 secs.

Last year a friend gave us Advent calendars with dog toys every other day, such as ornament-looking squeaky balls & candy cane rope toys. They didn’t really need 12 new toys in one month, but it was adorable.

I loved the integration & one-stop-shopping of Kaiser, but now I see the drawbacks. When I lose my insurance next month, I’ll no longer have access to my doctors — there’s no self-pay option — & I don’t even know if I’ll be able to access their website to see my past records & test results.😕

Never mind algebra or calculus, we’d be better off teaching everyone basic financial literacy. Many people don’t get that paying a few hundred $$ less now could double the long-term interest cost. Might be the right choice for some, but people need to understand what they’re getting into.

Maybe something like this could work if paired with accessible catastrophic insurance (no more age restrictions or need for hardship exemptions) & people with expensive chronic conditions could opt into Medicare regardless of age?

Impressive fog show today…

The rush to cash in on this unfortunate incident — both politically & financially— is like something you’d expect from Trump & his crowd.

Please. Republicans are fully able to vote either by mail or in person.

Polls have closed in California & Prop 50, which allows redistricting to counter Republican efforts in other states, wins handily with high voter turnout.

I know NYC *feels* like a national election the way everyone is talking about it, but no. Can’t vote on California prop 50 in KY either.

If I hadn’t seen Mamdani interact with his wife, I’d guess he was gay — and that’s a compliment.

I hope Scott Adam’s, like all patients, gets the care he needs, but geez — this isn’t how a health care system is supposed to work.😕

Glad to see Halloween in the Castro is back!

Happy Halloween!

Before GLP-1s, I bought Halloween candy a couple hours before Trick-or-Treat so I didn't eat it all in advance. Today I bought a big sack & am not even tempted. Maybe 1 piece later for dessert. Tirzepatide really works for the food noise!

And I’ve heard guys use “bro” to refer to people who aren’t actually their male siblings!!

Looks like Hurricane #Melissa might avoid a direct hit on most of Jamaica — it already appears to have missed Kingston — but if it veers to the northeast later than predicted, more populated parts of Cuba, Bahamas & possibly even Florida could be in its path.

Hey, @washingtonpost.com, I don't want a personalized selection of news based on my reading history & what your AI thinks will interest me -- I want a full roundup of the day's major headlines.😠

They’ve become quite popular lately. I’ve recently seen axolotl dog toys, plushies, a lamp. Here’s a pair today at the SF march.

I don’t know what Marc Benioff gets for calling on Trump to send in the National Guard to act as private security for his Salesforce convention, but I wonder if it’s worth losing his considerable support in SF? His name got some of the loudest “boos” at the No Kings rally.
