@jackbern.bsky.social What’s the longest period of time between any points being awarded in an ep of Taskmaster & has this week’s episode set a new record??

Literally my first thought on seeing the news.
Pope Francis used some of his last words to speak truth to power and I strongly suspect it was wasted energy…
good morning, found out about the news by waking up, opening WhatsApp and seeing that a friend had messaged "Oh my god JD Vance has Liz Trussed the pope"

It’s the night before Palm Sunday and a Holy Week miracle has occurred: I’ve just finished my Easter Sunday sermon!
(Palm Sunday is done too, I’ve not been negligent!)

@empirepoduk.bsky.social Spotted that the last few episodes don’t have the episode number in their title - could they be added? It’s much easier to keep track of (& recommend to others) with the numbers. Thanks!

I knew tonight would be a wild one in Holloway, but the shouts of joy when the third goal went in was unlike anything I’ve heard in nearly 7 years of living by the Emirates!
(Also the noisiest it’s been before a match in a while. Glad I got home just before this…)

Such a delightful privilege to preach at @stpaulscathedral.bsky.social this afternoon - thanks so much @paulagooder.bsky.social for the invitation! (Also grateful to the friend to took a sneaky action shot…)

Great @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social chat on this week’s Off Menu (with Sally Phillips) - James Acaster reckons the festival wouldn’t want to book a one-time Greenbelter who no longer attends church. Personally, that sounds peak Greenbelt!

This Sunday I’m preaching at St Paul’s Cathedral, evensong at 3pm. It’s a fairly nerve-wracking prospect, so familiar faces in the congregation would be appreciated!!

Imagine you want to take photos of a dress to sell on Vinted, but don’t have any hangers - what would you do?
One woman decided she’d just get her bf to hold it & not crop him out of the pics! (I’ve covered his face, she didn’t…) Genius move…

I had an argument with a male American friend about this in Dec. He’d totally drunk the Kool-Aid on Rogan & said the biggest mistake the Harris campaign made was turning his podcast down. (I told him she hadn’t…)
Feeling vindicated but even more angry after reading this!
“Why didn’t Kamala go on Rogan?” they all screeched in op-eds and tweets, for months on end.

Maybe, just maybe, because Rogan, in the tank for the GOP, made it near impossible for her to come on?

New reporting:
The inside story of Harris' lost gamble on Joe Rogan, Beyoncé and a late Texas rally
A new book by Jonathan Allen of NBC News and Amie Parnes of The Hill has details about the Harris campaign's botched attempt to schedule an interview with Joe Rogan.

Extra epiphany joy at Southwark Cathedral cafe today - not only are they still serving Galette Des Rois, but I got the charm in my slice! Bonus free drink as a reward. The world needs more baked goods for liturgical seasons…

Popped into the other place & a glance at the for you feed showed me a canon at a cathedral insisting that the salute the other day definitely had nothing to do with fascism. Excellent reminder as to why I try not to go back to that place often!!

Praying protection for Bishop Budde this evening…
But grateful for female bishops speaking truth to the power that’s literally in the room!!
Episcopal Bishop of Washington Mariann Budde is openly criticizing Trump's policies in her inaugural prayer service sermon right now.

Says: “There are gay, lesbian and transgender children …who fear for their lives" and “Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger.”

Final sermon of 2024 has been written & includes some theological unpacking of The Muppet Christmas Carol. More Muppet themed sermons would be no bad thing I feel…

Finally, someone else understands my logic behind my 2 day birthday - thanks @hankgreen.bsky.social!
If you live in a different time zone than where you were born, there’s actually a real chance that you weren’t born on your birthday.
Hard to believe that everyone was born on their birthday

Lovely to see a bit of free church bashing going on this morning. So sorry that my Methodist ethics & spirituality are supposedly corrupting the CofE!
(Genuinely lovely to see that the post I’m sub-posting got far less replies in agreement over here than in the other place…)
