Slide 6: Be intersectional in your language. Two Spirit and Third Gender =/= Trans (1/2). One of our core prompts this year focuses on 2Spirit, Indigiqueer, Third Gender, and Indigenous Gender Expansive identities. We have created this category to acknowledge a range of identities that exist outside of binary views of gender and sexuality. That being said, not everyone who uses these titles identifies with the terms trans or nonbinary. Please be respectful of each author and their culture, and the language they use to describe themselves. Slide 7: Be intersectional in your language. Two Spirit and Third Gender =/= Trans (2/2): We make this distinction not to deny the presence of trans folks in indigenous societies across the globe, but to recognize that colonialism has actively worked to erase those legacies. Transness and gender nonconformity by definition make space for people to decide which terms, labels, and expressions fit, and which do not. Many indigenous and third gender identities come with a set of specific cultural, social, and/or spiritual roles. Acknowledging this doesn’t somehow divide the trans community. It makes space for the wide range of human experience. Instead of telling people who they’re allowed to be, let them tell you who they are. Slide 8: Did we miss anything? Share other advice on how to make this a successful readathon in the comments! While reading trans books is fun, remember at the heart of this are real trans people who are fighting for their rights. As long as we are respectful, there’s no reason we can’t have fun and do good at the same time.

Even at 4 stars still would recommend. If you want to read definitely check trigger warnings on storygraph before as there are some topics within the story that could be very triggering for some.

This book was still 4 stars for me. The first half was interesting but a bit slow. The last half though was 🤯. I usually try to guess the ending in a mystery. This one I couldn’t and that’s what kept me so engaged and wanting to finish it!
