Ifrit was able to imbue Khalja with enough aether to get a foothold, and he denies it until horns grow on his forehead and he can no longer hide it. The growth was slow at first, but when Midgardsormer took away his blessing Ifrit was able to take hold and the horns began to grow rapidly.

But in canon, Khalja was among those taken by the Garleans for their experiments. He was imprisoned, experimented on, and forced to use his own body as a conduit for Ifrit until he was tempered. It was only after the fall of the empire that he was rescued and cured of his tempering.

I've been making great progress getting Khalja through Heavensward and i think its just about time to drop some lore on this AU. Yes, AU - because though they are the same character with the same origin the two versions end up being very different. So here's his reintroduction > (a thread)

Ive been making progress with my Khalja alt recently (he's in HW now!) And i got hooked onto the idea of an AU where he becomes the WOL instead. Naturally, i got thinking about Varra in that AU so here is what i think that looks like; she's a blacksmith! #Femroe #Roegadyn #Gposers #FFXIV
