I’m not acting like the game is over. I am simply stating that the can has been kicked down the road again, with no short-term gain and at the price of great embarrassment and demoralizing the base. This was a strategic blunder—given, again, that there WAS no strategy other than run out of gas.

Pelosi did it! 🤷‍♂️

I don’t have a serious problem with Jeffries, b/c he has shown he can keep the house Dems together. But this is 2 major debacles in the senate this year. Changing leaders would tighten the ship and inspire the base. Schumer and Durbin cld remain thru the end of their terms, but step down as leaders.

The Democrats didn’t remove anything. You’re acting like the Democrats solved a problem here. The abuser stopped hitting. *But the Dems did not develop any kind of mechanism to prevent him from hitting again.* There was no consequence to him, having lashed out. They folded.

Or should I say, it’s not the ideal path forward. But it’s the only path now available. Hoping that maybe what didn’t work last time might work next time. But if there’s no leadership change between now & then, the disgust with how things are going in the Senate minority is going to intensify.
November 11, 2025 at 7:15 PM
I don’t mean that sound harsh towards you, but apparently there are some moderate Democrats who feel that way. And it is not a path forward.
November 11, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Well, they certainly didn’t cave over the last 40 days, so what do you think is gonna be different in January? This is not anything to build a strategy on. This is excuse making after there was no strategy and the gambit failed.
November 11, 2025 at 7:12 PM
I can understand discomfort behind the scenes. We know the other side was getting uncomfortable. But there was apparently no strategy at play here other than "keep going until this falls apart." IMHO, the Senate Dems look worse now than they would had they not engaged in the shutdown at all.

New Senate leadership is needed if for no other reason than this: There was no endgame/de-escalation plan. Schumer/Durbin shouldn't even have embarked upon this knowing they had (1) no ability to keep these people in line for as long as it took, and (2) no apparent strategy if things fell apart.

Being purple has its disadvantages.

There's no way any bank in its right mind wouldn't roll those out only in high interest variable rate stratas.
November 11, 2025 at 5:39 PM
50-year mortgages would actually be bad for banks in the long run. Financial institutions--sensible ones--would have to build so many stipulations and high interest rate provisions into them that they'd likely turn-off the very people they're theoretically supposed to attract.
November 11, 2025 at 4:28 PM
But I was told MAGA world was "furious" at the proposition of a 50-year mortgage. Now Trump and his cabinet is making the rounds supporting it.

They could take a few pages out of the ending of the You Only Live Twice novel and move forward with an amnesiac Bond who'd survived a terrible explosion. IF they were intent on continuing the series as it was and not rebooting.

NTTD and the Amazon controversy has basically become my off-ramp, tho
November 11, 2025 at 4:02 PM
But… They should’ve done that this time. I thought that was part of the point? And… They should’ve done that the time before, right? How long can this can be kicked down the road?
November 11, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Jeff, there’s not gonna be anything to save if you burn the house down.
November 11, 2025 at 2:44 PM
It’s the fact that *you don’t care* that’s the obvious problem, Jeff.
November 11, 2025 at 2:42 PM
I’m upset, but I’m not not letting it make me burn the house down.

That twit has 25k followers drinking up and reposting his nonsense. Wonderful.

A brown man willing to kill for his oppressor. What are we even doing anymore.

Destroy the house Murrow and Cronkite built. The principles that made it valuable to start with. The quality that gave it the special cache you wanted. Why not?
November 11, 2025 at 2:05 PM
Forget that, Angus King needs to resign. I don’t care about the Senate math. For him to say what he did is unforgivable.
