CSA is not perfect, but it's pretty good. Those commercials... yikes.

It is a documented Old English name, so probably in England as well :)

Sudden thought. Since "-ot" is a diminutive, this isn't so much a Middle English Denise Cook, it's DeeDee Cook! :D

“Diot” would be pronounced like “idiot,” but without the i.

Yup, that’s a famous name. Does it help to know that “Coke” here is the Middle English version of “Cook”? And “-ot” is a diminutive suffix, in this case probably for “Dionisia.” Basically, she was Denise Cook.

My parents bought their circa-1950 tiny ranch house near Nathan Hale HS in 1967 for $17,500

Salty and sweet is good. Black licorice (or anything else with anise/fennel flavor) tastes horrible to me, though.

I love my cats, but I'd prefer to feed them actual cat food

Honestly, there are at least some benefits to having roommates when you are older. For one, you might not die alone and be eaten by your cats.

Dammit, same one.

Do you like other bitter things? I tend to not like them. Even coffee I have to put milk and sugar in.

Advil never has really worked on me, nor has aspirin. But Aleve? Oh yes. If I take Aleve at the beginning of a migraine it usually knocks it out.

Oh, I know that for sure. I grew up relatively close to Canada (Seattle) and I wish someone up there would adopt me!

Some states don’t have that kind of process (which seems crazy to me, having grown up in WA)

This is where the skies are kind of light polluted, so what does it look like elsewhere?!
November 12, 2025 at 5:22 AM
I'm originally from Seattle, so I know exactly what you mean

She was specifically citing the costs for a couple making $88k in TX. But, yeah. It's obscene either way.
