The newly reopened, historic Community Theater in Catskill, NY is quite a vibe. Down these stairs from the second screen back to the lobby.

Saw Peter Hujar’s Day, which is a fun, intimate snapshot of the photographer’s day. My Dinner with Andre, but talking memory and minutiae.

Watched the Les Blank documentary Burden of Dreams (about Werner Herzog’s making of Fitzcarraldo), which is amazing if you want some pull quotes from Herzog about how awful and enchanting the jungle is.

This sign was apparently in the airport in Quito, Ecuador in 1981. #signs #design #travelsky

The AirBnB had an oil painting of Clint Eastwood. They should call that out among the amenities.

Saw the silent film version of The Phantom of the Opera with live organ accompaniment. It was cool. I’d never seen that version, which turns 100 this year.

Another surprising recent show announcement in the capital district. The man, the myth, the legend, J. Mascis will be playing at No Fun in Troy in mid-November. 🎸

HV folks, here’s another excellent upcoming show for your concert calendar: mid-Nov at Assembly in Kingston, Photay headlining with support from Eucademix (aka Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto).

Here’s one for your spring concert calendar, Hudson Valley folks. This group currently residing near Livingston Manor puts on an excellent show.

They were the first live music I saw coming out of the pandemic — it was an outdoor stage set up in the parking lot of the abandoned IBM headquarters.

View from yesterday’s walk in the woods. It’s not been a great year for fall color because Aug/Sept were too dry, but it’s not a total loss. #fallfoliage

Went to the Woodstock Film Festival and say an advance screening of the new Knives Out movie. It’s a return to the style of the first one, and a lot of fun. 📽️ #moviesky
