So are we all just going to keep actively avoiding the news and reading some good fantasy books?

What are we all reading these days?
I’ve decided to venture into the Discworld series finally 🙌🏻

Diving into Andy Weirs Project Hail Mary. Haven’t read a good Sci-fi in a while so really looking forward to it!! Last one I read was maybe 4 years ago? Whoops 😅

THIS THIS THIS
A reminder that every small bit of good you do - whether it be putting art into the world, helping a friend or stranger, donating to a good cause, or just listening to someone who needs to vent - offsets all the evil in the world just a little bit. And sometimes that's just what the world needs.

Beltaine, also known as May Day (1st May), marks the beginning of summer in pagan & Gaelic calendars. It's marked with Maypole dancing, bonfires, fertility rituals (👀) & by making posies & leaving them at the doors of those you love.
Merry May Day 🌿-some May posies my daughters made 8 years ago:

Currently reading Tom Lake by Ann Patchett as part of the #ReadGoodChallange
And it is wonderful. Feels like one of those right book right time situations.

I don't really use TikTok that much, but I find it fascinating that our government is on the verge of banning an app for national security reasons that are still unclear in the same week that Meta, the largest social media company, says it's now fine to hate LGBTQ people and call us mentally ill.

Cosy Christmas review
So like everyone else in the reading world, at Christmas there was nothing I was in the mood for more than a cosy, low stakes Christmas romcom. (How many times will I say Christmas in this post). S…

Slowly introducing more general fiction and literary fiction into my life. Last year was an abysmal reading year for me with an average rating of 3.11.
Looking to read with more intention in 2025

Just a random and totally not self-serving reminder that middle grade and young adult books are often fun reads, and quick reads, and not forbidden to you just because you grew up! If a book where the protagonist is a kid sounds like fun, give it a look! Ain't no shame in it!

I’ve been watching #booktube for around 10 years now and I’ve always wanted to start my own. But I’ve nothing different offer that isn’t already offered. Is it worth doing now? #booksky #reviewer #blogger

The whole point of buying the books you are giving to people for Christmas in a bookshop and not online on Amazon is not only to support the bookshop but to accidentally find a number of books you don’t have time for yet feel obliged to buy and take home with you anyway because they are wonderful.

I’m gonna try and do the #BuzzwordReadingChallange in 2025 by BooksandLala.
With a baby who will be six months in the new year, how successful do we think this will be😂
See below for prompts.

Where are people getting their world news from nowadays? Can’t touch X because it’s so skewed to the far right?
I don’t even follow these people and my timeline is full of it?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok?

I am a ‘whatever format works’ to get a book read reader. Audiobooks, ebooks, paperbacks all get words into my brain. And I swap formats back and forth reading the same book. Ebook and audiobook syncing is a godsend.

4.5 ⭐️

- I devoured this.
- I love everything Fredrik Bachman writes.
- It makes me laugh. It makes me cry and it fills me with warmth.
- A brilliant laugh out loud short story.
