If this were only in the interest of the US, but it ISN'T. There is nothing which the US couldn't get on current terms (minerals: The Act on Greenland Self-Government of 2009, security: The 1951 Defense Agreement). Nope: It's about cheap triumphs and low-hanging fruits. Rob thy neighbor!

I see different suggestions to avoid American products and technology, different browsers instead of Google. But noone mentions Ecosia, an excellent browser I have used for a long time. Can anyone explain why?

Since WWII, Washington has been the most important capital for European security. That has now come to an end.
For both the US and Europe, the end of transatlantic unity is a major security policy defeat. For Russia and President Putin it is a huge victory.
