I present to you the ultimate filing cabinet for old and resting (let's be honest: abandoned) projects, well hidden under a staircase in the back entrance of a local government office.

I guess the same as with the papers showing gender bias in the publication process and teaching evaluations: nothing.

When I pointed out this research on teaching evaluations at the start of my tenure track, it was just ignored. I still have a target score above which I need to be evaluated.

Just had a MS Teams meeting with one additional "participant" that nobody knew how to get rid of. So it listened to our call and just sent a summary (not that bad) + some metrics.

The meeting was 82 effective!
(to me, longer than necessary)

Now I wonder how all my other meetings compare.

It is that time of the year again...I'll be in the UK for the next 10 weeks.

Looking forward to spending time with my friends and colleagues in Essex 🤩

Let me know if you would like to meet. I'm close to London and happy to travel a bit!

4️⃣ design an unincentivized survey module that
- captures both cost types
- correlates with our experimental measure
- is predictive of behavior in the mind game
- takes two minutes to complete

6/7
December 23, 2024 at 2:55 PM
3️⃣ demonstrate the measure is
- internally valid (using treatments that vary the costs)
- predictive of behavior in other commonly used experimental honesty paradigms

Example below: mind game in which participants whom we classify as having low ILC and low SIC claim larger payoffs.

5/7
December 23, 2024 at 2:55 PM

2️⃣ classify four main preference types

1) low ILC & low SIC
2) low ILC & high SIC
3) high ILC & low SIC
4) high ILC & high SIC

and document substantial heterogeneity in types across three different samples:
- student sample,
- convenience sample, and
- UK representative sample.

"Individual Preferences for Truth-Telling" - with @simeonschudy.bsky.social and Susanna Grundmann.

First, here is what ChatGPT imagines it is about.

Now, let me tell you what we actually do.

Why can't all countries have such a smooth visa application process like 🇰🇪?

No "passport-style" photo? Take a selfie, and the software adjusts it.

Can easily be completed in <10 minutes, response usually in <72 hours.

Yes, looking at you, 🇩🇪...such a long list of requirements. For the photo.

The meetings of the Economic Science Association never disappoint.
I had a great time at the European meeting with old & new friends, good discussions & feedback, and interesting presentations & keynotes. Plus fantastic weather in Helsinki.

Thanks all for making the job so enjoyable!

Did you have a productive day today?

I thought mine was ok and then I came across this author of 130 non-fiction and guidebooks.
Assuming he started publishing at 18, that's still more than three books per year 🤯

I just found out by coincidence that I had some invite codes. Since demand is so high: check your "settings" if you haven't done so.
