Unfortunately, the trades in Alberta have a reputation for being racist, misogynist environments that many people do not want to be in. Also, apprentices make significantly less than professionals.

Government funded retraining and career transition support. Similar to what we did for the coal workers in Hannah. Also, in 2021, the federal government funded a program at Norquest College called CareerMoves to help mid-career professionals transition to new careers.
