I love watching The Traitors, but I would be terrible at it. I have next to no control over my facial expressions & would immediately start awkward giggling if I got picked to be a Traitor. I still like to imagine the strategies I'd use, though! 😂

I agree that learning disabilities nurses have the skills to work with people with neurological conditions, in fact, a number of LD nurses already do!

#Firstpost 3 things people should know about autism. 1. Autism is a different type of information processing in the brain. Because of the nature of autism, non- autistic people can not understand the autistic experience (and vv). So try not to judge: the world is actually perceived differently.

People with ID and mental illness are also more likely to be in psychiatric inpatients long-term. Developing specialist community services supports people to receive care at home, so they can stay with their social support network & in environments that are familiar & comforting.
People with intellectual disabilities more likely to develop psychotic illnesses. Another argument for developing specialist services to support people with ID who develop mental illness, as symptoms can go missed & services can be difficult to access.

I am so lucky to work in the best & most supportive team imaginable. We really do look after & support each other through everything. We see people through their toughest times, which can be emotional, but having each other helps us to give the people we support our absolute best.

Almost all mental health problems and mental illnesses are more common in autistic people than in the general population. This new publication by R . C . Psychiatry is an excellent resource for information and practical matters surrounding autism and mental health www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mental-healt...
Autism and mental health
This resource looks at autism and mental health. It explains what autism is, how it’s diagnosed and what support is available for autistic people.
