Don't be! If anything a pronunciation that is confusing will trigger a good laugh and a nice conversation.

This video might be helpful. Most French people will differentiate é, er & et vs et & ai whereas southern folks won't. No one will mind.

A bit weird as in people don't speak like this when having a conversation with friends. She teaches French so unambiguous letter sounds are critical to illustrate correct pronounciation of words.
Tried to teach the difference btw "é" & "ai" to my partner for 15y with 0 success so far 🤷‍♀️

She doesn't appear to have a particular regional accent and takes great care to enunciate each sound and word as clearly as possible. So she sounds a bit weird to me but not because of any accent. Definitely not southern. Do you have any audio from someone else that highlight the difference?
