Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉

Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace.

You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

Good morning from the Castel statue-menhir from Guernsey.
This type of monument is rare in NW Europe, it was toppled over 1000 years ago & built into the church which now sits on the hill. In 1878 it was rediscovered & put back to look out from the highest point of the island

I love living within sniffing distance of Senners, esp at Easter, but I had wall-to-wall dreams of hot cross buns thanks to the baking wafts coming through my bedroom window all night... I woke with the hunger of ten wolves!

This Sunday am come & join me for a stroll through town. We’ll talk about Guernsey past & present, there’ll also be one or 2 folklore tales & we’ll sample some Guernsey bean jar (but will it be with or without carrots)🥕. New starting point in market square.

20 years ago today, the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami killed over 200,000 people and profoundly affected the lives and livelihoods of many more. Very grateful that my friend and colleague Peter Roffey survived to tell of his experience, recounted here from 2:13:25.

This stitches together the yarns of populism, communication and technology to make a vivid tapestry covering pivotal moments across the last 500 years... From printers to priests, radios to reformists and wi-fi to witches, it makes sense of our rapidly unravelling age of the internet. Worth a watch.
This is one of those videos that you could work on forever, but suddenly it felt very important to make it, so I finally did: www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8Pn...

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.

Morning.

Well, so far Bluesky feels more... wholesome. Here's something in keeping, fresh out of the oven. Shout out to any Guernsey people on this platform (and anyone who likes cake). 👋 I'm going to enjoy the cute animal content before politics takes over.
