Funding applications can feel daunting. I keep hearing:
⚠️ “I’m not competitive enough.”
⚠️ “I lack publications.”
⚠️ “Funding is too hard.”

But you don’t need a perfect track record - just proof you’re the right person for this research!

Focus on what you do bring.

Believe in yourself. 🌱

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬!

Many researchers hesitate to showcase their achievements. But your proposal isn’t just about research, it’s about YOU as a leader.

Here’s how to own your expertise:

✅ Be bold
✅ Use the first person
✅ Highlight your track record
✅ Provide evidence

Confidence = clarity.

With AI’s growing role in academic writing, I checked the 𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐈 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐈 in research funding applications.

Interestingly, applicants can use AI (but accuracy, originality, and transparency matter!) while assessors must not use AI in reviews/decisions.

I danced ballet for over 15 years. 🩰 Dancing on pointe shoes is painful! Applying for grants/fellowships can feel the same: uncomfortable, frustrating, and discouraging. But persistence turns effort into achievement.
Don’t give up on your spotlight!💃

Did you know?
You only have 1 to 2 minutes to grab the attention of non-expert reviewers, so make every word count.

Grant or fellowship proposals are often reviewed by people outside your field. Experts may spend 30 minutes reading, but non-experts skim. Make key points stand out early and clearly.

Wednesday Wisdom: Presenting the Research Problem in Funding Proposals

🔹 Define the problem: What’s being solved and why it matters?
🔹 Show its uniqueness: Why is it essential to solve this?
🔹 Start bold: Present the problem early in the proposal, before exploring previous work.
