Nitpicking here, but it isn't entirely true that they idiomatically 'spent a night on the tiles' (caith siad an oíche ag rancás) in Ljubljana as the article notes that they had no money, but rather al fresco in a local park (Oct. 19, 1904). One term for this euphemistic avoidance strategy is 'noa-name' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noa-name). In Germany there's a term for the opposite "Unwort des Jahres" (Unword of the Year), which is a commonly used new word that has some offensive meaning—example Biodeutsch www.uni-kassel.de/fb02/en/info...
