Would be nice to commemorate some of the artists who died lonely deaths during the early days of AIDS bc of the stigma, large parts of it were due to the Reagan administration. I’ll start.

This is Peter Hujar, a brilliant photographer who finally is getting his real due. Look him up!

Just barrelled through the last few pages of @antonhur.com’s Toward Eternity. The archive as bulwark, the notebook as dna, poetry as life-force. Sorry I missed him on a panel in Adelaide last year!

I wonder if going back to sleep for that final stretch brings more vivid dreams as a reward for not lying awake and doomscrolling (written as i doomscroll after waking from that final stretch)

I never really thought about why a ‘conveyancer’ was called that.
You might well want to follow this 🧵 for a full understanding of this oddball (to me, at least today: I live, I learn) use of the verb "convey."
I'm going to hope @bcdreyer.social weighs in on this non-transitive use of "conveys"

Instant alt-insta
OK so Bluesky's sister app Pinksky looks kind of amazing? It converts your Bluesky image posts to something that might better suit those of you who prefer insta (am I missing something here?!)

'All we imagine as light' - quietly magical. Just caught some elements of that in Payal Kapadia's early short film 'Afternoon clouds', now on lecinemaclub.com (you might need a VPN)
For TIME: A profile of Payal Kapadia, the gentle radical whose Cannes Grand Prix winner "All We Imagine as Light" is in cinemas today. A radiant drama of sisterhood, it emerges from an incendiary political backdrop, with which she has a tumultuous history

The other day, I learned that I’ve been saying “hagiography” wrong this whole time. But then I forgot what I learned but I learned something! So I’m just gonna avoid saying it. Not that it comes up often. Anyway—

Just when oppressive tech seems more and more the norm, along comes this interview with Signal’s Meredith Whittaker. Touches on issues I’ve been mulling like IA, CrowdStrike & Gaza. Great photos by a fav editorial photographer Dina Litovsky. And Whittaker’s originally a rhetoric and English major!
For the 10th birthday of Signal, I did a Big Interview with its president Meredith Whittaker.

We ended up talking about how her focus for Signal goes beyond encryption or privacy, to creating an alternative to surveillance capitalism—or even capitalism, period.

Such a good essay on the crackdown on the US protests
I wrote about what the panicked and violent response to this protest movement has revealed about the weakness and fatuity of the people behind it, and the wonder-working power of telling bad-faith actors to fuck off. defector.com/they-are-ins...
