"Progressive policies are popular and urgently needed. But as Jamie Driscoll says, “we must guard against shoppinglistism.”

Competency and collaboration can unlock a fairer society, but it takes hard work.

"Majority legends! ✊🏼

Come rain or shine (luckily it was shine today), our hardy Majority members hit the streets every week.

First talking to shoppers at our street stall, then standing together with refugees at the regular anti-racism demo.

Team cleanup! 💚

Today Majority members and local Greens teamed up to clear fly-tipped rubbish in Shiremoor - removing bottles, cans, vapes, furniture and even a plastic Xmas tree! 🌲

Working together we can clean up our streets AND clean up our politics!

I would like to coin the phrase ‘fake crusader’. The fake crusader is someone who shouts angrily at an injustice for just long enough to get attention and feel self-righteous. Despite having no track record of actually doing anything about it.
Far-right fascist protesters are 'fake crusaders' cosplaying people who care about women and children

The far right don't actually care about women and girls - but are playing up their faux outrage to justify their racism.

Today Newcastle stood united. ✊🏼

The far-right were in town trying to spread their hate and division. Only about 200 turned up.

Over 3000 canny geordies, including dozens of Majority members stopped them marching and sent them packing!

"We're getting spanked in the polls by the far right; and the left are both full of ideas, and getting themselves organised. Do you reckon it's time for us to, y'know, do something?"

"Nah, just re-hire a load more Blairites."

In the interests of breaking out of the echo chamber, I've started reading "The Centre Must Hold" by Yair Zivan. I've only finished the intro and I'm already speechless at the lack of self awareness. I'll possibly post a review and critique if I can stomach the whole thing #booksky

Starmer just repeated the outrageous statement that the #NHS must "reform or die". This outrageous threat to the lives of all NHS staff, many of whom are the children of parents and parents of children, cannot go unpunished.

Lads, remember in 2018 when Corbyn made this "controversial" intervention?

Some of today's news:
1) Reeves has decided non-doms should keep all their money
2 Starmer insists benefits have to be cut
3 Jeff Bezos' wedding will cost $32 million. Amazon paid zero UK tax in 2022.
4 Farage proposes plans to redistribute wealth to the poorest

Are Labour actively trying to lose?

I know we're still a way off AI taking over the world and enslaving us, because Spotify's DJ X thought I'd like to start my day with a playlist of show tunes.

Revisiting this @rafaelbehr.bsky.social piece from 2015 and I'm filled with sadness and anger at what could have been. The positive energy, and 400k new party members, dismissed as fanatics.

Well, now we have Starmer. And then we'll have Farage. Thanks, Rafael.

I've just emailed a Norwegian colleague and got an out of office stating he's on paternity leave "until August".

Funnily enough, there are no signs of the wheels falling off in Norway's economy. Quite the opposite, in fact.

We're being taken for absolute mugs in the UK.

This is sad and infuriating. No surprise the grass around Newcastle War Memorial (Goth Green) has been destroyed by the Christmas market. No chance this will regenerate by spring, so it'll likely stay a muddy bog until the Council pimp it back out in Nov. More of our commons taken for a quick buck.

Work in progress project to show the upcoming North East Area of Interest for offshore wind. First time I've delved into #blender and I'm fairly smitten; so much crisper than ArcPro, Qgis or GlobalMapper.
This will ultimately be a sales piece on Stink Tin, but on here it's just for #gis community.

Blind mole-rats have shot up my league table of top animals. Will they replace the blobfish? Tune in next week to find out.
They are their own thing. The family is called Blind mole-rats. I guess someone found one underground and thought hmmm
-kind of a mole;
- wait no maybe a rat because it has those huge teeth, and;
-weird, its eyes are sealed up (it can detect light/darkness with them).
Must be a blind mole-rat!
So if they aren't moles, or rats...what are they?
