further regretting my switch back to Windows because this would be easily remedied on macOS (Pixelmator Pro)

I don’t include Keroro Gunsou in this as its dub wasn’t trying to be offensive, but that was also another instance of Funimation taking massive liberties when it came to the source material.

People praised Funi/ADV in the late 2000s but forget that they were just as bad as 4Kids sometimes.

I was itching to drop it after like Episode 4 or 5 but I will see it through to the end anyway. It's not much longer than a one-cour seasonal so at this point it hasn't pissed me off enough to justify not finishing it

i miss you so much

I won't know until I watch them!
Since both are kinda long-ish, I think I will post my thoughts in blocks of a few episodes at a time. It'll be easier to digest that way for those interested in my thoughts and will allow me to better soak up the story beats!

See you for whenever that starts

Well, I could make a... fairly reasonable guess as to why Monogatari appeals to more people, but I would also like to imagine that there's more to it than just fanservice. Perhaps a better story or characters await me, or higher production values, or maybe neither and it's just annoyingly horny!

Well, Monogatari is very often compared to a series that I *do* kinda enjoy as a guilty pleasure: the Aobuta series. Comparisons are so abundant that Aobuta is often called "the poor man's Monogatari"

So for a series I enjoy to be labeled an inferior knock off, what makes Monogatari so much better?

The second (and more sketchy) anime I will start is Bakemonogatari, the first in the Monogatari series.

I swore to myself years ago I would never watch this for a lot of reasons! So many that I would go way over the character limit. I'm sure a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about, so why?

I have no real expectations for it other than I'll probably like it? I know Aisaka is a fairly famous example of a tsundere but that's about it. It being late 2000s J.C. Staff also means it probably is fairly well animated? Idk. Nothing in particular screams danger to me so it should go alright.

The first series I will start is Toradora!
This is an anime I've actually tried to sit down and watch three times before, but could never get past a few episodes. Why? Dunno! I don't think it's boring or uninteresting or anything, but I could never stick with it, but this time for sure! (Right?)
