I think it's one of the reasons that Trump won. Financialization is making day-to-day life hard for a lot of voters and people are feeling frustrated at seeing their goals slip by. He spoke directly to their frustration and his actual policy promises didn't really matter.

Canadians don't love monopolies. It's our outdated regulations that cause us to have so many and for this to govern how the economy grows. It's why people can't afford to live in Toronto, their salaries feel squeezed going into the Christmas season, it's hard to get a good job.
