Yes! As soon as I glimpsed the photo I said "Socks!" Ah, a simpler, happier time.

That's really quite insane!

Glad for a glimpse of what SF did. Our little town was vociferous too!

Hi Emma, I miss working together on the forum, but I very much enjoy following you here--you are such a conduit of pure Deppy energy! 😊 And I like hearing how you are doing in general. As for me, I'm waiting for spring, slogging through work, and looking forward to going to Spain next year.

I think maybe not stupid, but deeply deeply misinformed, and/or helpless-feeling. It feels safer and saner to keep your head down and pretend nothing too bad will happen. It may take a while yet for the bad things to percolate down to enough individual Americans to force the country to wake up. 🫤

I am sure bereft. How can I choose fabric for a dress when I don't know how heavy or slippery it will be? Or what color it will really be? Plus, online you have to buy by the yard, rather than the amount you actually need (by 1/8 yard), which will be very expensive and wasteful. 🫤

Good luck with the conversation! And the job placement sounds great. Hanging out with nice people who have limited expectations of you is a good use of your time :)

Americans are scared and furious too--about so much, and specificly deeply ashamed about the threats against you. Americans feel ill at the thought of attacking you, above and beyond the economic impact of tarriffs on us. Stay strong and true and Americans will increasingly envy you.....

Didn't really read comics as a kid, so I'd have to point to Garfield, Eyebeam, and Dykes to Watch Out For. Doonesbury, Bloom County, and (early!) Dilbert would also be in the mix.

Great alt-text on your images btw!

And for me, a Paul Newman movie about race car driving that I never heard of. Of course, I did meet Paul Newman at race car driving, but I'm not sure that's on the cards for this year.....

It is the best lasagne recipe! And one of the recipes I've kept stored in my head for decades.

Oh, yes. I'm American and I despise ketchup!

My child has carried a water bottle since toddlerhood in the early '00s. But I remember in 1990 my mother asking my sister, who was with a college sports team, what she was doing carrying a bottle of water around. In my memory, that's around the time it started becoming a thing.

So glad to see you here and to hear through the grapevine that you've been feeling better! (And if my username doesn't ring any bells, you know me from croquet :)

Wow, congrats! Though now my head's going to be stuck back in the Good Decade all day....
