I love wandering through the damp forest, slowly, taking everything in. The sights, the smells, the sounds… the feeling. Of course I had to give this bit of coral slime a little poke. It was solid in structure, like tiny bony protrusions from the twig it occupied.

The orange capped vase or trumpet shaped fruiting bodies may reach 12 in high and 12 in wide. The lower surface, the hymenium, is covered in wrinkles and ridges rather than gills or pores, and is pale buff or yellowish to whitish

Stumbled upon this interesting specimen of Turbinellus floccosus aka scaly vase or woolly chanterelle. These are usually vase or trumpet shaped, not quite sure what happened here but it’s very cool. Will drop a more typical example of this fungi below.
