I'm very relieved Poilievre didn't win, but it is so, so weird seeing US / UK peeps celebrating this on Canada's behalf as a win for the left. We just elected a centrist banker and our actual-left party was crushed and may lose official status. This is a move to the right for us, by the numbers.

Especially when these populations are already experiencing serious disenfranchisement through things like voter suppression. As a Canadian, I am all for standing up to the Cheeto man, but as leftist, I am not gonna rejoice and laugh at more suffering
Most red states in the South are states with majority black populations. I reject the idea that blue states should punish (or mock) the people living in red states to prove a political point, as if it would even be feasible.
