Software dev, data, ML and playing with AI. Former lighting desk botherer.
When you start to put the jigsaw together, BR starts to shape up as a thoroughly unlikeable character.

Although my thoughts may be clouded by the fact I'm rewatching game of thrones at the moment.

Guess who was manager when Tierney was allegedly pushed beyond his limits...

This is totally wrong thinking. The schools need extra resources to help find the root cause of the kids with poor attendance. Wielding a stick helps neither the school or the pupils.

Yep. SoftBank is "all in" on OpenAI. It's in the article, and further in article links.

Yes, in hindsight I probably should have posted that as a response to one of the people inferring she must support the current situation having worked. With Altman having u-turned on things like non-profit, ppl have left before.

Totally agree on clarity being required re potential conflict.

They're selling Nvidia to invest a further $22.5Bn in OpenAI because they anticipate an IPO in the relatively near future.
November 11, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Well they're liquidating some assets to invest a further $22.5Bn in OpenAI. So I don't think it's about recognition of an impending AI bubble burst.

Have Swansea decided that Idah is so good they also want the guy that found him?

Or just not use the bits you don't like. I've never used voice services on any device that has them.
November 11, 2025 at 1:24 PM
True, but several people are suggesting that because she worked there she must support the direction they're taking.

I agree that on the face of it there's a huge conflict of interest though.
November 11, 2025 at 12:45 PM
I've only had time for a superficial look and not found much. Is it possible she left OpenAI because she disagreed with the direction they were taking with regards to safety?

Did you ever see the film with Tom Hanks called Mazes and Monsters, which arose from the D&D panic?
November 11, 2025 at 9:34 AM
Apart from anything else the idea that people's experiences aren't or can't be interpreted into 'data' is just absolute nonsense.

They don't need to worry about food, but do need to worry about flying to their weekend house.
November 10, 2025 at 3:42 PM
The "don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness" mindset running riot. Except without the forgiveness part.

I've said before that one of the important things to watch is how little the Dems might roll back if they ever get back in power.

Could this pave the way for emergency surgeries around the clock without the need for surgeons to work night shift? Just anaesthetists, theatre nurses etc (for the time being).

That should lead to better outcomes overall, since shift based fatigue can lead to errors.

Anybody thinking "they'd never get away with killing the BBC" clearly isn't paying attention to the US.

From what I saw in the first half he was tidy but cautious, not really offering much going forward. Totally fine in the circumstances. I didn't see the 2nd half.

I think I'd be more upset if he liked them. Imagine finding out his 80s NYC days were fuelled by a love of No Wave. Devastating.

It's the back left corner.
November 9, 2025 at 8:48 PM
The worst thing is that it gives fuck nuts 'proof' that he couldn't have said what 'leftists' say he did.
November 9, 2025 at 7:27 PM
Hmm, from what I read it wasn't ideal but didn't change the substance of what he said. Not really a resignation at the highest level issue. Outside pressure.
November 9, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Do they not do any hammy stretches? It's ridiculous.
