I am ready to be here at Reading Round Up (RRU) to be in community with my colleagues during this tough time. I am willing to give out hugs, fist bumps, high fives to those that need it.

Putting aside whatever feelings I have about Senator King's vote today, the fact that I can't leave a message with my feelings on it is annoying. He works for us, I should be able to leave a voicemail with my opinion.

I am having some feelings about this Abbott Elementary episode about banning books--it's not that it is too hard, it's more that it isn't following correct procedures. But maybe it's been doing that with other school stuff all long and I don't know it because I don't work in a school.

At first I was charmed by Adrien Brody’s speech and then I felt it got disrespectful. He took so much more time than anyone else so far and didn’t get played off, while other categories didn’t even get to have everyone say thank you. Ugh.

I don’t think my library owns any of the APAALA junior fiction titles! Gotta get on that.

I love Kao Kalia Yang, so seeing her win an honor for APA ALA is fantastic! And I can’t wait to see Aloha Everything. That cover is stunning. #alayma

Tomorrow is ALA Youth Media Awards day! I am hoping this will be a place to discuss the books. It’s my bright spot for tomorrow.

“It’s not hard to imagine future generations one day asking: ‘When there was so much at stake for our country, what did you do?’ The only acceptable answer is: ‘Everything we could.’”
Cecile Richards, may your memory be a blessing. RIP.

Me, a South Carolina women’s basketball fan: I can finally use the restroom during halftime.

Halftime commentary brings out Aaliyah Boston (former SC player)

Me: well I am not moving now. That’s my favorite!
