I'm not all that tuned in to graphic design, but I'm pretty sure it predates the Trump presidency. I've seen ribbon-like letters on wedding anniversary cards and the like, and here's a ribbon-like logo for the National Football League's 75th season in 1994 (source: Wikipedia.)

On 9/1, I and lots of folks will be protesting along El Camino from Redwood City down to Santa Clara. Details below or see tinyurl.com/historic17x17k . There may be similar events near you: maydaystrong.org. Not everyone has the time or safety to protest, but if you can, every little bit can help.

Local protest event June 14. The tiny URL for this is tinyurl.com/7x7kJune14 . I’m planning to attend unless I’m out of town. If I’m out of town maybe I can find something similar nearby. There are going to be a lot of these: www.nokings.org .

We had a great crowd for the evening May Day event in Mountain View, and again a lot of motorists honked in solidarity. I didn't hear any official attendance numbers.

An organizer said the 50501 march/rally in San Jose today had at least 3,500 people. It had good energy and a lot of drivers honking support.

An organizer said we had about three thousand people marching and/or rallying in Mountain View today. It had good energy, lots of drivers honking encouragement.

Recently read NINEFOX GAMBIT by @deuceofgears.bsky.social. I love how it hits the same "huge cool beautifully written space opera" notes as Iain M. Banks while being in contrast: YHL's setting is dystopian while Banks' is utopian, but the ride is equally thrilling. Looking forward to the next one.

Thrilled to be reading tonight at 7pm at Berkeley's Pegasus Books (downtown location) with Danica Li, ("My Brother William" in BASS 2023), @svobodster.bsky.social, ("An Invisible Epidemic" in BASNW 2023), and (recent Hugo winner!) @samtasticbooks.bsky.social, ("Rabbit Test" in BASFF 2023).
