DuckDB is my favorite new OLAP cache for in-situ analytical queries. Super fast, easy to use in scripts and pretty much no database management overhead. Intentionally went with a single threaded design to avoid MVCC corner cases.

This thread is important. AI won't teach writing, critical thinking skills or help us grade AND it is a planet killer that steals from creators. AI is not the way forward for educators-it is an impediment in the classroom.
Saying we need AI because the kids are behind makes no sense to me.

If the kids can barely craft a prompt to enter into AI, let alone interpret the results…..

How is AI going to close the gaps??!!

having used OSX, System76's PopOS (linux), Ubuntu, and now Windows professionally this year, windows is by far the worst of the three, just an absolute piece of shit to to bottom. I cannot imagine any universe where I use this as my primary OS.

I had a lot of fun with #Python in the last year, but whoever thinks that #Java dependency management with #Maven and #Toolchains is hard, did never experience Python, Pip, virtual environments and system package managers, let alone breaking changes in minor versions all over the place.
