No-one has tbh, because we accept the trade-off of not putting the Good Friday Agreement at risk by enforcing a physical border. & it’s only a minor inconvenience to need to show an EU passport on entering/exiting the Schengen Zone.
But if UK joined, we’d fully join too… the whole island in or out.

Forgive me, but there would be no need… the UK has already done that to itself.

The CTA is the only reason Ireland isn’t a full participant in Schengen. We opted in to the anti-crime Schengen Information System. However, we couldn’t countenance putting up a border with NI, which would have been required under Schengen. Because UK opted out, we chose to do the same.
